A cheap alternative to Central

A cheap alternative to Central

$60, 7 hrs of eating, 3 altitudes.

When I landed in Lima, I was STARVING. I regretted being snobby not eating my baked pasta dish on LATAM. I looked online to find what activity I could do that day- something with food. So I found this food tour operated by Haku. Since it was the day of, I contacted them via WhatsApp and they were quick to respond. Off I went-

MERCADO 1 FRUIT TOUR

We started off with exploring the fruits and veggies of Mercado 1. Some of the stuff I ate- I had never ever seen before.

COAST

Ceviche- the reason I came to Peru. I liked that this platter had a little taste of everything : ceviche, calamari, and seafood rice.

ANDES

Pota-toe, po-tat-o. Andean cuisine is not my jam, but I can appreciate the complexity of the sauces and the variety of potatoes.

JUNGLE

I can’t decide whether I like jungle cuisine more or coastal. This chicken in banana leaves was bombbbbbb. The piranha was not my fave.

This food tour was great. It was like a Central type experience for much cheaper. The tour guides were knowledgeable and talk to you about history throughout the tour. Needless to say- I was super full. Photographed is only half the food I consumed. After eating our hearts out, we walked around the Barranco district- even though what I really needed was a run.
