Brunch in Houston, TX

Brunch in Houston, TX

A Texas-sized brunch, complete with coffee... in a state that tries to make tacos appropriate for every meal.

CATALINA COFFEE

This was a great hipster coffee shop - and my latte was better than I expected it to be. The espresso tasted quite funky by itself though.

THE BREAKFAST CLUB

Brunch was at The Breakfast Klub, which supposedly had the best Chicken & Waffles in the area. I tried to sneak my coffee into this place, but I was quickly snapped at and told to put my coffee in the car. It's not like this was going to encourage me to buy coffee from a diner.

The ambiance was cute, there was outdoor seating and lots of condiments (which I like). Unfortunately, the prices were high for being a diner in Houston. The chicken & waffles plate was $16. This is a dish I recommend sharing - unless you want to eat all of your calories for the week.

The chicken was very well-seasoned - although I prefer chicken tenders when I eat this dish. The waffle was nothing special, but it complemented the chicken well. The chicken was quite oily, which is typical of Chicken & Waffles, but I much prefer it less oily - the way 900 Grayson in Berkeley does it.

There will be an awesome post this Sunday - and not just an edited one - I promise!
